The first—and still the only—comprehensive study and analysis of Shakespeare’s plays based upon the records of Elizabeth’s Court.

The "text-book" for Shakespeare-Oxford students, teachers and other scholars.

With remarkable scholarship and provocative insight into the contemporary events and personalities of the reign of Elizabeth I, Mrs Clark proves the truth of Hamlet’s statement, that the plays were "the abstracts and breefe chronicles of the time." Mrs Clark shows that "Shake-speare" had an intimate knowledge of the politics and intrigues at the Court and that he was permitted to go surprisingly far in alluding to its members in burlesque, satire, allegory, comedy, and tragedy. Her conclusions indicate that this remarkable access to inner affairs and the high degree of liberty enjoyed by the author were due to two facts: that the author was indeed England’s ranking nobleman, close to the seat of power; and that what he wrote amused, entertained—and informed—the Queen.

Ms Miller has expanded Mrs Clark’s original 700 page work to over 970 pages, bringing together Mrs Clark’s later discoveries as well as discoveries of others. Included is the complete text of Mrs Clark’s 1933 book The Satirical Comedy of Love’s Labour’s Lost and major portions of Mrs Clark’s 1926 book AXIOPHILUS (OXFORD ALIAS SHAKESPEARE), and of her 1937 book THE MAN WHO WAS SHAKESPEARE.

Eva Turner Clark founded the American branch of the Shakespeare Oxford Society, as the British Society was being diminished and extinguished during the Nazi blitz of WWII, and supported it and the work of Charles Wisner Barrell until her death in 1946.

Clark's Hidden Allusions is a true "Text Book" for Oxfordian Studies, essential for college level honors courses, students and researchers in the Oxfordian cause, and Shakespeare Authorship Issues.
